Terms And Conditions Acceptance of Daves Car Rental terms and conditions is a condition of booking. It is a prerequisite for hirers to read, understand and agree to these terms and conditions before requesting our services. |

Renter Qualifications and Requirements The Daves Car Rental company may impose significant qualifications and requirements on people seeking to rent vehicles. Those include possession of a valid drivers licence, possession of a valid credit card, the satisfaction of age requirements, the making of arrangements with respect to security bond and the making of arrangements with respect to payment of charges that Daves Car Rental deems satisfactory. Other, significant qualifications and requirements may also apply. You must satisfy all rental qualifications and requirements at the time of vehicle collection; it is not sufficient for you to meet them at the time of reservation. Drivers Licence Australian Residents We accept full current Australian drivers licence which has been held for at least 12 months, excluding any time under a learners permit or a provisional licence. The main driver will be required to hold a valid credit card** and be present, with their drivers licence and credit card**, at the time of vehicle collection. Any additional drivers will be required to be present with their drivers licence. Non-Australian Residents We accept full current overseas and international drivers licences. If overseas drivers licence is not in english, then an international drivers licence is also required. Overseas drivers licence must be held for at least 24 months, excluding any time under a learners permit or a provisional licence. Overseas travellers who will be driving in Australia for a period that is longer than 3 months, will be required to obtain an international drivers permit. The main driver will be required to hold a valid credit card** and be present, with their drivers licence and credit card**, at the time of vehicle collection. Any additional drivers will be required to be present with their drivers licence. Drivers with an overseas drivers licence must provide their country licence, international licence (if overseas licence is not in english) and passport. Please Note: For the security/holding bond, if the credit card** holder is a Non-Australian Resident, it is compulsory for all renter protection services (PPP) to be accepted. Drivers Age Drivers are to be a minimum age of 21 years old and a maximum age of 70 years old. Drivers aged 21 to 24 or over the age of 70 are restricted to the types of vehicles they can drive. All drivers under the age of 25 or over the age of 70 are subject to a daily age surcharge. Payment Methods Surfers Paradise Office Payment must be made in full in Australian dollars. We accept Visa, Master Card, American Express, Japanese Credit Bureau, Debit Card, Eftpos and Cash. The use of American Express and Japanese Credit Bureau will incur a 5% surcharge on the full cost of rental. Airport Locations Payment must be made in full in Australian dollars. We accept Visa, Master Card, American Express and Japanese Credit Bureau. The use of American Express and Japanese Credit Bureau will incur a 5% surcharge on the full cost of rental. Debit Card, Eftpos and Cash payments are not available at airport locations. Security/Holding Bond At the start of each rental Daves Car Rental requires a pre authorisation from the hirers credit card**. A pre authorisation simply freezes an amount on your credit card**, allowing Daves Car Rental access to funds in the unlikely event that damage is caused to the vehicle while under your care. Accident Damage Excess: $550 Pre Auth Amount: $200 Accident Damage Excess: $890 Pre Auth Amount: $550 Accident Damage Excess: $990 Pre Auth Amount: $550 Accident Damage Excess: $3,000 Pre Auth Amount: $550 Accident Damage Excess: $3,500 Pre Auth Amount: $550 Accident Damage Excess: $4,000 Pre Auth Amount: $1,000 Daves Car Rental reserves the right to pre authorise an amount up to the chosen excess and to take signed credit card imprints (by the hirer). Upon return and closure of the rental agreement, the pre authorisation is cancelled. The main driver will be required to hold a valid credit card** and be present, with their drivers licence and credit card**, at the time of vehicle collection. **A valid credit card is required for rental and security/holding bond. We do not accept debit card, eftpos or cash bonds. We do not accept bonds on cards such as Visa Debit or Master Card Debit because they do not qualify as a valid credit card. Please Note: Due to the limitations within terms of use for American Express and Japanese Credit Bureau, it is compulsory for all renter protection services (PPP) to be accepted by customers who are using these cards for security. The use of American Express and Japanese Credit Bureau will incur a 5% surcharge on the full cost of rental and accident damage excess. Please Note: If the credit card holder** is a Non-Australian Resident, it is compulsory for all renter protection services (PPP) to be accepted. Renter Protection Services When you rent a vehicle with Daves Car Rental, Third Party Liability cover for bodily injury is provided in accordance with the legal requirements of Australia. In the event of an accident, loss or damage to the vehicle or third party property, an Accident Damage Excess (ADE) will be charged. The ADE is charged per each incident, regardless of who is at fault or the amount of damage. If the loss or damage is ultimately less than the ADE, part of the ADE will be refunded. Any breach of the rental agreement will result in the hirer(s) being financially responsible for all losses to both the Daves Car Rental vehicle and any third party damages, above and beyond the ADE stated on the rental agreement. Standard Cover (Standard Accident Damage Excess)*** If you have not purchased one of our renter protection services, a Standard Accident Damage Excess (ADE) applies to your rental. This provides you with cover in the event of an accident with another vehicle (multi vehicle accident), where the full details of the third party vehicle have been obtained by the hirer and delivered to Daves Car Rental within 24 hours. Loss arising from single vehicle accidents, theft, hail, storm, flood, overhead, underbody and interior damage are not covered and the hirer accepts full responsibility for these costs, above and beyond the ADE stated on the rental agreement. Excess Reduction (Accident Excess Reduction (AER))*** Accident Excess Reduction (AER) offers you the ability to reduce your Accident Damage Excess (ADE). This provides you with cover in the event of an accident with another vehicle (multi vehicle accident), where the full details of the third party vehicle have been obtained by the hirer and delivered to Daves Car Rental within 24 hours. Loss arising from single vehicle accidents, theft, hail, storm, flood, overhead, underbody and interior damage are not covered and the hirer accepts full responsibility for these costs, above and beyond the ADE stated on the rental agreement. Premium Cover (Premium Protection Package (PPP)) Premium Protection Package (PPP) offers you the ability to reduce your Accident Damage Excess (ADE). This provides you with comprehensive cover in the event of an accident with another vehicle (multi vehicle accident), single vehicle accident, theft*, hail, and storm damage, where the full details have been obtained by the hirer and delivered to Daves Car Rental within 24 hours. Overhead, underbody and interior damage is not covered when no other vehicle is involved. ***This level of cover is not available to hirers using American Express and Japanese Credit Bereau. ***This level of cover is not available if the main driver and credit card holder** is a Non-Australian Resident. ***This level of cover is not available for after hours rentals (after hours vehicle collection and return). Please Note: Travel Insurance and many other Car Rental Agencies will not or do not usually offer adequate cover for most claims. Although optional, we always recommend that Premium Cover is selected for peace of mind. In all instances, full liability will apply to the hirer(s). Vehicle Collection By prior arrangement, we offer a personalised meet and greet service at Brisbane Airport and Gold Coast Airport. In order for us to provide this service efficiently, it is required for hirers to read and understand our terms and conditions prior to rental pick up. Additional fees may apply if delays occur or failure to collect. Brisbane Airport operating hours : 0700 to 1800, 7 days * Gold Coast Airport operating hours : 0700 to 1900, 7 days * Office Phone : 07 5504 5955 International : +61 7 5504 5955 Brisbane Domestic Airport Upon your arrival and collection of luggage, please ensure your mobile phone is switched on. You will be greeted by one of our friendly staff outside the arrival terminal doors. They will assist you with your luggage and take you to your vehicle. Once at the vehicle they will provide you with copies of the rental agreement and receipts. They will also advise you of the return procedures for the location you are returning to at the completion of your contract. Brisbane International Airport You will be greeted as you enter the arrivals terminal by one of our friendly staff. They will be holding a welcome board with your name on it. They will assist you with your luggage and take you to your vehicle. Once at the vehicle they will provide you with copies of the rental agreement and receipts. They will also advise you of the return procedures for the location you are returning to at the completion of your contract. Gold Coast Domestic Airport Upon your arrival and collection of luggage, please ensure your mobile phone is switched on. You will be greeted by one of our friendly staff outside the arrival terminal doors. They will assist you with your luggage and take you to your vehicle. Once at the vehicle they will provide you with copies of the rental agreement and receipts. They will also advise you of the return procedures for the location you are returning to at the completion of your contract. Gold Coast International Airport You will be greeted as you enter the arrivals terminal by one of our friendly staff. They will be holding a welcome board with your name on it. They will assist you with your luggage and take you to your vehicle. Once at the vehicle they will provide you with copies of the rental agreement and receipts. They will also advise you of the return procedures for the location you are returning to at the completion of your contract. Please Note: Our last airport collection and return is allowed 30 minutes prior to close of business. Please Note: Unavoidable delays may occur during peak periods. After Hour Collection and Return By prior arrangement, after hours vehicle collection and return can be organised. This incurs a nominal after hour fee and it is compulsory for all renter protection services (PPP) to be accepted by customers. In all instances the Premium Protection Package (PPP) will be automatically added to all after hours rentals (after hours vehicle collection and return). Vehicles returned after hours will remain the renters responsibility until it has been checked by a Daves Car Rental representative the following business day. Late Returns Returning the vehicle after or even before the designated drop off time might affect the rate quoted. Returning the vehicle by the agreed time also helps ensure that all other customers will have their reserved vehicle available upon their arrival. If the vehicle is returned up to 3 hours late, a third of the daily rental rate will be charged for each hour overdue. If it is returned greater than 3 hours late, a full days rental is applied. Optional extras, for example: AER or Satellite Navigation, etc, will be charged at the full daily rate. Rates Rates include Standard Cover, free kilometres, registration recovery fees, goods and services tax, 24 hour roadside assistance and free use of street directory. Rates are based on season, availability and demand, and they change very frequently. Reservations made online are always heavily discounted. Rental Day A rental day consists of a 24 hour period. Free Kilometres Unless a reservation states otherwise, unlimited kilometres are included. Additional kilometres are charged at 25 cents per kilometre should your reservation include a limited kilometre rate. Fuel Fuel is not included with rates. It is the responsibility of the renter to return the vehicle with correct amount of fuel, as provided at time of collection. Additional charges and a service component fee applies if the vehicle is not returned with correct amount of fuel. Secure Online Reservation Service You may request vehicle online prices and check availability without making a reservation by simply completing the first two steps. If you wish to make a reservation at this time and with these details, request for a vehicle reservation by filling in the hirer information and confirmation details. Our online reservation service is located on a secure server that guarantees the safety of the transaction. The system uses SSL encrypting technology. SSL works by encrypting all communications between the computer and the server so the information cannot be intercepted. Rental Fleet Daves Car Rental has a wide selection of vehicles to choose from to suit your requirements. Our fleet range includes compact, medium, intermediate, full size, wagon classes, plus passenger vans. Daves Car Rental reserves the right to alter vehicle models, specifications and equipment levels without notice. Vehicles can be reserved by car group only and not by particular car model, year or colour. Vehicle models may differ and specifications may vary by location and availability. If you have a preference please advise at the time of booking and, if available at the time of pick up, we will be more than happy to accommodate. Area of Use The area of use for vehicles are confined to a 250 kilometre radius from our Surfers Paradise Office (mainland only). Area of use between Byron Bay - Gold Coast - Brisbane - Toowoomba - Sunshine Coast. By prior arrangement the area of use may be extended. This incurs an additional daily surcharge and the purchase of AER or PPP is compulsory. Vehicles are permitted for use on sealed gazetted roads only. Gazetted road means a road regularly maintained by a local, state or government body, authority or council. Vehicles are not permitted for travel to coastal islands and cannot be taken on ferries, transporters or trains. Optional Extras and Additional Services Additional Drivers Nobody can drive a Daves Car Rental vehicle whose name does not appear on the rental agreement. Subject to renter qualification and requirements, additional drivers can be included. Additional driver charges apply. Child Seats In accordance with the legal requirements of Australia, children aged under 7 must wear an approved, properly fastened and adjusted child seat. Upon request and by prior arrangement, we can provide baby seats and booster seats with your car rental. Convertible baby seats: Rear facing mode suitable for newborn to 8 kg, front facing mode suitable for 8 kg to 18 kg. Booster seats suitable for 14 kg to 26 kg. For your child's safety, the child seat must be installed by the renter. All vehicles come with the required fittings. Satellite Navigation Upon request and by prior arrangement, we can provide satellite navigation unit with your car rental. Our portable satellite navigation features a simple touch screen interface, with automatic route calculation and turn-by-turn voice and visual guidance. Street Directories We provide complimentary street directories for use with your rental. Driving Rules Visit Queensland State Road Rules. Visit New South Wales State Road Rules. Toll Roads All Queensland toll roads are operated by Queensland Motorways and will be electronic from July 2009. There is no more stopping to pay for your tolls with cash. To learn more about how to prepay tolls visit Queensland Motorways or Go via. Toll road use is the responsibility of the renter. Any toll evasion imposed onto the company through your use of the vehicle will be charged to you, including an administration fee for each unpaid toll use. Infringements Infringements and traffic violations is the responsibility of the renter. An administration fee applies for each infringement that is imposed onto the company through your use of the vehicle. Cleaning Charges Return of vehicle in an excessively dirty condition will incur cleaning charges. Non-Smoking All Daves Car Rental vehicles are non-smoking. Accidents and Roadside Assistance Accidents In the event of an accident where medical assistance is required dial 000 for emergency help. Report the accident to the Police and Daves Car Rental immediately. Ensure full details of third parties, witnesses and police that attend at the scene are recorded. Do not admit liability. In the event of an accident, damage or loss to the vehicle, you must contact Daves Car Rental immediately and deliver full details to us within 24 hours of such incident. You will also be required to fill out a Daves Car Rental Accident Report Form. Any breach of the rental agreement will result in the hirer(s) being financially responsible for all losses to both the Daves Car Rental vehicle and any third party damages, above and beyond the ADE stated on the rental agreement. Defects It is the renters responsibility to return the vehicle in the same condition as it was at the time of pick up. If you found a new apparent defect, not listed on the vehicle condition report remitted at time of vehicle collection, you have to contact and inform a Daves Car Rental representative for joint examination. Roadside Assistance Daves Car Rental (through sub-contractors) provides a 24 hour breakdown roadside assistance service for the vehicle. Roadside assistance does not cover non-mechanical defects such as, lost keys, keys locked in vehicle, flat battery due to light being left on, etc. Reservation Amendments If you believe that any of the information that we hold about you and your reservation is incomplete, please let us know and we will update your details. With your help we will take reasonable steps to ensure that we hold current information. Rates and all reservations are based on season, availability and demand, and they change very frequently. Reservations made online are always heavily discounted. Confirmed reservations can be altered and may be subject to altered pricings when things such as dates, length of rental or vehicle category are amended. All rates, including specials and discounts provided in confirmed reservations are valid only at the time of issue and therefore changes to a reservation may be subject to a requoting of rental costs and incidental charges. Cancellation Policy We reserve the right to charge the following cancellation fees to all confirmed reservations: • More than 7 days notice - No Cancellation fee • Within 7 days of hire - $100 Cancellation fee (this will be charged but you will be given an equal amount of credit to your next rental) • Within 24 hours / No Show / Failure to Collect - Up to full cost of "total estimate of charges" Changes to Terms and Conditions We may vary Terms and Conditions at any time without notice. |
